What the paper is

Every week ProjectsPilot publishes one ranked mock test and opens it to everybody with an account. It is a real paper, not a sampler: a timed multiple-choice paper under UPSC Prelims marking, sat inside a fixed window, one attempt per person.

It costs nothing and it never touches your plan's monthly mock quota — signing in is the whole price of entry. Papers usually run on Saturday, but the window is set per paper, so the date in the panel above is the one that counts.

How the paper is built

Two sources feed it: the previous week's current affairs, and General Studies subjects drawn from the full syllabus catalogue (usually two). Current-affairs questions must name a story from that week — a question that cannot be traced back to one is dropped before the paper is saved, and generation refuses to run at all on a week with no news, so nothing is written from memory.

Difficulty is calibrated against real UPSC Prelims previous-year questions from the same subjects, put in front of the model as worked examples rather than described in an adjective. Questions are generated in English and Hindi with the option order identical in both — anything without a Hindi version falls back to English rather than blanking — and each carries a link back to the story, topic or reading it was set from wherever one resolves.

What you get when results reveal

Answers, explanations and ranks unlock together at the reveal time and are visible to nobody before it — not in the paper, not in the submit confirmation. That is what makes the rank worth having across the whole window.

At reveal you get your rank across the entire cohort, a real percentile (the share of people you actually beat, not an accuracy formula), a per-topic breakdown of your attempt, and next steps crossed against the topics you have already marked covered — revise what is slipping, start what you have not touched.
