ProjectsPilot publishes ranked mock tests and opens each one to everybody with an account. It is a real paper, not a sampler: a timed multiple-choice paper under UPSC Prelims marking, sat inside a fixed window, one attempt per person.
It costs nothing and it never touches your plan's monthly mock quota — signing in is the whole price of entry. The window is set per paper; when one is scheduled, its date is in the panel above.
What kind of paper it is
General Studies from across the syllabus, usually alongside recent current affairs — so news alone is not enough to clear it, and neither is static preparation alone.
Questions come in English and Hindi with the option order identical in both, and where the answer traces back to a story, a topic or a reading, the review links you straight to it.
What you get when results reveal
Answers, explanations and ranks unlock together at the reveal time and are visible to nobody before it — not in the paper, not in the submit confirmation. That is what makes the rank worth having across the whole window.
At reveal you get your rank across the entire cohort, a real percentile (the share of people you actually beat, not an accuracy formula), a per-topic breakdown of your attempt, and next steps crossed against the topics you have already marked covered — revise what is slipping, start what you have not touched.

Questions people ask
Is the UPSC mock test really free?
Yes. Every ranked paper is free to enter — a ProjectsPilot account is the only requirement. It does not consume your plan's monthly mock quota, and there is no paid tier that gets a different paper.
How is the ranking calculated?
At the reveal time every attempt on that paper is ranked against every other: score first, faster completion breaks a tie. You also get a real percentile — the share of the cohort you actually beat — not an accuracy-based estimate.
What is the marking scheme?
The UPSC Prelims scheme: +2 marks for a correct answer, −0.66 for a wrong one, and 0 for a question left unattempted.
Is the paper available in Hindi?
Yes. Papers come in English and Hindi with the option order identical in each, so you sit the same ranked paper in either medium.
What does the paper cover?
General Studies from across the syllabus, usually with recent current affairs — enough of each that current affairs alone will not carry you and static preparation alone will not either. When a paper is scheduled, its subjects are named on this page.
When do I see the answers and my rank?
At the reveal time stated for that paper. Correct answers, explanations, the leaderboard and your rank appear only then — one attempt per person, inside the window, and nothing is visible before reveal.
